Position: Security Officer Specialist

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must possess a current and valid driver's license
• Must be able to carry and use a firearm and maintain required firearm proficiency throughout employment
• Must be at least 21 years old when applying and under age 37 when receiving a conditional offer of employment , unless eligible for an applicable exception based on prior Federal Civilian Law Enforcement service covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement
• Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer before reaching age 40 to remain eligible in the hiring process
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance throughout the career
• Must have uncorrected binocular visual acuity of at least 20/100 and corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss, as determined by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear at the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz frequencies
• Must complete a drug screening before appointment and be subject to random drug testing while employed
• Must successfully complete 13 weeks of basic training in Glynco, GA , followed by 18 weeks of specialized training in Laurel, MD
• Must sign a mobility agreement acknowledging a willingness to accept assignments throughout the United States and overseas
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 , must certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System or qualify for an exemption
